I make this Baked Macaroni and Cheese using my Cheese Soup Recipe. These are two fairly easy recipes, and it will be a big hit at dinner!
This is a great recipe to take to get togethers, if we can even legally do that anymore! I usually take this to parties, or holiday dinners. It’s a super simple recipe that everyone loves.
I also like to make deviled eggs. That’s another food item that seems to disappear at parties! Both of these recipes are usually a big hit at my Thanksgiving dinners or Christmas dinners.
Why Make Cheese Soup When You Can Buy It?
Once you learn how to make your own cheese soup, you’ll want to add it to just about everything! It’s great for broccoli and cheese, nachos, tacos and so much more!
You can buy cheese soup, but honestly it’s not the same! In addition canned cheese soup has a whole bunch of ingredients that your homemade soup won’t have in it. Additionally, the homemade version just tastes better!

The best way to get the burnt cheese effect is to turn the broiler on for the last five minutes of cooking.
The broiler works fast, so stay close and watch the casserole very carefully! It should only take about 1-3 minutes to brown the cheese.
Make Ahead Instructions
If you want to prepare this dish ahead of time, do all of the steps except for baking. Allow the dish to cool for a little while. Then, cover your casserole and place it in the fridge.
Then, when you’re ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350ºF. Bake the casserole for 40 minutes or until it reaches at least 165ºF and the breadcrumbs are slightly browned.

Just an FYI, the cheese soup link goes right back to the mac & cheese recipe!
Haha, whoops! Thanks for letting me know! I will go fix it.
Yum I love macaroni and cheese. I would eat it all the time when I was pregnant. It’s one of those comfort foods that can never turn out bad. Now, if only you could cut out all the calories 😉
Right! Cheese is just so good. It is something I need in my life.
Yum! I love mac and cheese! Its one of those things that you can add something different to every time and make it even tastier.
I was thinking of putting some mushrooms with that – that’s just me. I like to put mushrooms on anything. Lol. That mac & cheese dish looks good though. It’s one of my favorite dishes because it’s easy to prepare and it’s always a huge hit at home.
Hope the thunderstorm’s stopped by this time. Stay safe.
I love mushrooms too. The kids are not so big on them though!
My hubby and kids are meat lovers so everytime I make mac and cheese, I drizzle it with crispy bacon bits.
Great idea!
I love homemade, made from scratch mac and cheese and this looks soooo good!
Thank you!
I have not baked that is a while. I will try your recipe
I love home made mac and cheese–this recipe makes my mouth water. Anything that uses a whole stick of butter is going to be tasty.
Haha, I know. Dare I use a whole stick of butter. I love butter, there is no way around it!
The classic macaroni and cheesse are one of my favorite meals…I also tried to bake them and the result is great! Your recipe looks so good!
Thank you! It is so good when baked!
I never thought of putting breadcrumbs, I’ll try that the next time I cook mac and cheese. This dish is a staple!
I must try this recipe. I like the idea of using the cheese soup. Every other recipe I’ve tried has always tasted so bland.
Oh I totally, understand that. Most recipes I have to adapt to my families liking. We like flavor too! 🙂
