One of the best things about homeschooling in the 21st century is that there are so many free resources right at our fingertips. Curriculum can be a huge expense for people who are on a budget. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to make a list of free homeschool curriculums.
The other reason I wanted to make this list is because it’s difficult to find a curriculum that fits your family’s needs. I’ve been homeschooling for a few years. Additionally, I’ve bought a couple of curriculums, that honestly missed the mark. We usually do a one-room schoolhouse setup. My kids are close in age, so that helps.
However, it can be difficult to find a curriculum that fits each child’s individual needs for learning. So have a couple of go-to sources is really helpful. Additionally, I find that using many sources of mediums helps my students learn and retain their knowledge.
Using a mixture of videos, written material, images, games, and more is really helpful for kids of all ages. The more exposure to one subject the better!
Free Homeschool Curriculum
There’s a couple of free homeschool curriculums that I’ve used over the years. Some I love and some well not so much.
There are some years when I don’t use a curriculum at all. I just use some free homeschool resources that I find online. It’s kinda like making up your own curriculum.
There are also a few websites that link to other website to complete their curriculum. Some websites do this well, and some well it just feels very disorganized.
I was very picky with this list and I only included the more organized looking websites.List

Free Homeschool Curriculum
These free homeschool curriculums are great for families on a budget. Find one or two that work great for your family!
Clarendon Learning is one of my favorite curriculums to use. They have all the major subjects in neat little lessons. Best of all it's free!
I just recently found this website. They've actually compiled a huge list of different things you can learn through all kinds of different mediums, which I love. They also have a bunch of lessons you might not think of teaching about. There are a few life skills that I am definitely going back for!
This program is K-8. However, there is another website just for high school students. I make that one next on the list.
This curriculum is perfect for a one-room schoolhouse setup, and bonus if you have slow internet or not enough computer for each student to use, you could always buy the curriculum!
This is a Christian-based curriculum.
This is the high school program from Easy Peasy. It's also a Christian-based curriculum.
Not to be confused with K12. This is not a government-funded curriculum like K 12. It's also NOT aligned with the common core objectives.
Student accounts are free. However, a parent account comes with a small fee.
This is a Charlotte Mason inspired curriculum. More than just the core subjects. This program also includes stuff like poetry, art, and music. They have some pretty cool lessons that you can even download.
This website is pretty cool. There are lessons, real-world simulations on physics and chemistry, an interactive learning resource, and adaptive practices.
Core Knowledge has downloadable lessons for language arts, history, geography, and science. They don't seem to have any math material.
This is an online public school. If public school worked well for your kid this may be the way to go. However, if your kid didn't flourish in the public school system, it's probably better to make a different choice!
Popular Paid Curriculums
Sometimes free homeschool curriculums just don’t cut it. Some people need more structure. These curriculums are some that you can purchase. Some of them are pretty expensive though.
Especially with curriculum that you have to buy every year, the costs really add up. Not to mention, if you have multiple children that you’re homeschooling, the price may increase!
Most of these are a few hundred dollars or more for a year’s worth of materials. It’s a pretty penny to pay, especially if you end up not liking it!
Make sure you do your research before you buy. I’d look at their refund policy too just in case you aren’t happy with your purchase.List
Popular Paid Curriculums
If you'd like to buy a curriculum, here are a few I'd suggest looking into. These curriculums can get pretty costly from year to year. It's best if you can find an online curriculum and pay a lifetime fee. Especially if you have multiple kids! I've included some links to products that you can purchase, but feel free to do a ton of research before you buy!
$7.99 per month for families.
This is neat because it will assess kids and determine which levels they should be working at. It provides lessons for all major subjects and uses a few different mediums too.
A family lifetime plan is only $225 or annually $90, monthly $17.
Dream Box analyzes your child's interaction with each lesson and then adjusts the lesson accordingly. This gives each child an individualized instruction.
60 days of homeschooling curriculum. For Grades 3-7. There are a few volumes that you can choose from. I've linked to volume #1.
Horizons is an award-winning curriculum. Additionally, it caters to grades PreK-12.
