Here’s a really great casserole, the kids are sure to love. The mixture of ham, onions, cheese, and noodles are so tasty together in this casserole. I also have a holiday ham recipe that’s amazing.
I’m mention the holiday ham, because if you cook a whole or even part of a ham you can use the leftovers in this recipe.
Typically, I buy a pack of deli ham. Just regular old sandwich ham. This might sound gross to some, however, I’m raising three teenage boys, judge me all you want!
Cheap meats is how we roll in this house! If I went out and bought a whole ham, it would be gone 30 seconds after I rang the dinner bell.
Regardless, you can buy a hunk of ham in the deli or in the meat section usually year round, if you aren’t on such a strict budget like me. Just cut it up into cubes and cook the casserole according to my recipe! Either way will work out just fine.
Ham and Cheese Casserole
Most of the recipes that I make and put on the blog are quick and easy weeknight meals. Perfect for the busy moms and dads who just don’t have a whole bunch of time to be cooking and cleaning!
- 1 lb. egg noodles
- 1 lb. ham (sandwich meat, or you could use part of a leftover ham you have some.)
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
- pepper to taste *optional
- 2 cups Water
- Cook noodles according to package direction.
- While the noodles cook, sauté the ham and onion with oil in a saucepan.
- Slowly stir in the water. Add the pepper also.
- Add the cheese and stir until the cheese is melted.
- Add the noodles to the ham mixture and stir.
- Cook until hot and bubbly.
- Serve and enjoy.
