Creamy mushroom sauce with tons of chicken and pasta. This Instant Pot Chicken Tetrazzini Recipe is topped with parmesan and bread crumbs soaked in butter. You’ll love this recipe and so will the family!

I’ve included a second recipe for those guys and gals who only have frozen chicken to work with. I’m the kind of person who just doesn’t do fresh meat. That might be weird but I don’t care. I also don’t thaw my meat, since you can cook frozen meat. If you do it properly it will be just as tasty!

I just got an Instant Pot yesterday! Can you tell? I’ve already got my first favorite recipe out of it. I was looking around the web for a good Instant Pot Chicken Tetrazzini Recipe and I didn’t really see one that I loved.

The very first recipe I made in the Instant Pot is one I made up myself! And beat all, it turned out really well if I do say so myself! Since I first wrote this, I added it to the menu. I continued to make it just about every week since then.

It’s still my favorite recipe in the IP so far, believe it or not!

Instant Pot Chicken Tetrazzini

Chicken Tetrazzini Instant Pot Recipe

Pressure Time: 40 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 4 minutes

If you love pasta, chicken, and mushrooms, you've come to the right place. This is an amazing Instant Pot recipe. It's definitely a favorite in this house!

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 chicken breast (boneless, skinless)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 lb. linguini
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sherry cooking wine (substitute with chicken broth if you don't have the wine)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 stick butter (melted)
  • 8 oz parmesan cheese (shredded)

Instructions

  1. First, add butter, garlic, mushrooms, salt, and pepper to instant pot.
  2. Turn instant pot on Sauté (less or low). Leave lid off for now.
  3. Sauté for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add chicken and brown on both sides.
  5. Add chicken broth.
  6. Place lid on, and turn the steam valve to “sealed”.
  7. Press the [manual] button and pressure cook for 8 minutes.
  8. Use the quick release to release the steam.
  9. Shred the chicken.
  10. Add the pasta and wine.
  11. Pressure cook [manual] for 6 minutes.
  12. NPR – Natural Pressure Release for 10 minutes. Then, vent the rest of the steam. If it sputters, close the valve, and wait 5 more minutes and try again.
  13. Add the sour cream and milk then, mix well.
  14. Add Chicken Tetrazzini mixture to a casserole dish. Spread evenly.
  15. Sprinkle parmesan over the top.
  16. Mix bread crumbs with melted butter.
  17. Spread bread crumbs evenly over the top of the entire dish.
  18. Broil for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Carefully watching because it will burn quick.
  19. Lastly serve, and enjoy!

  3. Pressure cook for 8 minutes.
  4. Release the pressure by opening the pressure valve.
  5. Shred chicken.
  6. Place chicken back in the Instant Pot.
  7. Add mushrooms, garlic, chicken broth, sherry, and linguine to the Instant Pot.
  8. Pressure cook for 6 more minutes.
  9. Release pressure once again.
  10. Place lid on, and turn the steam valve to “sealed”.
  11. Press the [manual] button and pressure cook for 8 minutes.
  12. Add the sour cream and milk then, mix well. You can stop here if you like. Or you can continue and add a breadcrumb topping to the tetrazzini.
  13. Add Chicken Tetrazzini mixture to a casserole dish. Spread evenly.
  14. Sprinkle parmesan over the top.
  15. Mix bread crumbs with melted butter.
  16. Spread bread crumbs evenly over the top of the entire dish.
  17. Broil for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Carefully watching because it will burn quickly.
  18. Lastly, serve, and enjoy!

Feel free to double this recipe if you have a large Instant Pot! I have an 8 QT Instant Pot Duo Plus. I usually double this recipe, since I’m feeding three teenage boys and my husband! They eat a half-ton of food a day.

I’ve also seen people make tetrazzini with turkey too if you’d rather have turkey. You could just substitute an equal amount of chicken for turkey.
