Are you looking for a great way for your children to practice grammar, sentence structure, dictionary skills, and much more? This is my IXL language arts program review.
IXL is a great program where your kids can practice identifying, nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, past tense, pretense, plurals, singulars and everything in between and beyond. This program offers grade 2nd – 12th grade!
Language Arts Program for Homeschoolers and More!
This is not just a great resource for homeschoolers; it’s great for kids in public or private schools. If your child is struggling or needs some extra practice in language arts try IXL. Your child can actually try 20 problems free every day. If you love it try a membership so your child can practice as much as necessary.
My three boys really like the language arts program. They don’t love the scoring system but with hard work comes great reward. I do like that you can stop a skill anytime you want and come back to it if you like.
Awarding Hard Work
The boys get so excited when they master a skill and cannot wait to see the game board rewards. The game board is where they get to click on a tile to reveal a new object. The other awards that they have are certificates that can be printed out and framed. I love those. They look nice framed but they also look great in the records that I keep for the boys.
What I really like about the language arts program was that these individual skills are something that isn’t on every homeschooling mom’s radar. It’s nice to see what your child knows and targeting lessons or play along the lines of an area that is lacking.
Why Mom Loves The IXL Language Arts Program
As a homeschool mom, I let my children play educational games, read books, fill out worksheets, take courses online and offline, play outside and hang out with other home slices. There’re not many places where I would find a great list of skills for language. IXL’s language arts program is a one of a kind and a much-needed program for homeschoolers.
The boys play a lot of educational games but we have not found many that teach kids about grammar and sentence structure. I was really excited about what IXL offers and that the boys really like it.
We have grammar books that we bought from a thrift store along with many others. We love using books, but we usually do lessons out loud and all together. I like that IXL is a program that they can navigate easily by themselves.
It’s a program that my children use independently and I get full reports on their achievements, the amount of time they spent practicing and more.
Teach a Lesson do Some Practice…
I really like the idea of teaching a lesson and then sending them to IXL to do a little practice. Then you can see how much of the information got through!
I noticed I can put my older two on third grade and my youngest on 1st grade and there are similar skills but the higher levels are just a little harder. The younger one feels included still, but IXL helps him practice on his level of understanding. It really makes teaching and practicing with different grade levels a lot easier.
IXL has a mobile app. Language arts is only available on ios systems, like an iPad, but not on android systems like the kindle. We don’t have an ios system to use so we miss out on the language arts mobile app.
The math app is available on both ios and android systems! I really like being able to take it mobile. Studying in the morning and perhaps practicing while running errands later in the afternoon. It gives the kids something to do, but also a great way to master skills on the go!

I hope you will give this website a try. Remember you can try 20 problems free every day!
