Sausage Stuffing Recipe

There are plenty of ways to make stuffing. They can be vegetarian, meaty, full of herbs, and even fruit? Yep!

Adding sausage to stuffing just made it very savory, which goes really well with a roasted turkey. These dishes are perfect for any Thanksgiving meal!

Sausage Stuffing Recipe

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes

Whether you’re stuffing the turkey, or just want to make some dressing, I’ve got an amazing recipe for you!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 2-3 stalks celery (sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2+ cups chicken or turkey stock or broth
  • 3-4 sage leaves (chopped fine or 2 tsp dried sage)
  • 1 package roll sausage
  • 4 cups bread crumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Saute onion, celery, and garlic in olive oil.
  2. Add sausage, brown, and cook thoroughly.
  3. Stir in butter and sage. Allow to cook for a few minutes.
  4. Add breadcrumbs.
  5. Stir in a little bit of stock at a time. Do this until all of the bread is soft and has soaked up all of the liquid.
  6. Salt and pepper to taste
  7. Serve and enjoy! Refrigerate leftovers.

Notes

Instead of buying bread crumbs, you can make them yourself. Start by dicing 8-12 slices of bread spread them over a cookie sheet and cook on 350ºF for 15 minutes.
