When I learned to type in school, it was a terrible experience. If only the school could have implemented some of these cool typing games for kids, I could of had a lot more fun!
That’s right! Learning to type doesn’t have to be boring. It can be fun! Let your kids learn the fun way so they don’t get burned out while trying to learn a new skill!
One of the best things about these games is that many of them are FREE! I don’t know about you, but I love free homeschool resources!
I’ve been homeschooling my kids for a few years now. We’ve learned about geography, math, science and so much more over the years. Additionally, many of the ways we learned was using free online resources or the library.
TIPS FOR TEACHING HOMESCHOOL STUDENTS TO TYPE
Muscle memory. It’s a real thing. Your muscles have the ability to remember all kinds of things. One of the most important steps is to keep kids practicing every day so they can build up their muscle memory.
The second thing I would recommend is first using a program like the first one on the list. The reason why I say this is because it’s important for kids to learn where each letter is first.
Knowing where the letters are first can definitely help when playing typing games for kids which reinforces their typing abilities.
The last important thing I want to point out to you is that you really have to keep reminding kids to keep their fingers on the keyboard. It’s natural to want to peck at each letter.
However, in order for children to learn how to type, they will need to place their fingers on the correct keys in the middle row.
